Haniya Syeda is a current Master of Social Work candidate at University of California Los Angeles graduating in June 2024, and CSWE Minority Program fellow. She is a first generation Muslim Pakistani American from Boston, MA. Prior to her MSW program, she received a Master of Public Health degree in 2018 from Boston University. She served as the Programs Director for a Boston-based refugee and immigrant health center where she built wrap-around services to support refugees and immigrants, conducted research on childhood mental health, and developed several integrated programs to support patients. She also completed the New Leaders Council Fellowship in 2019, which aims to bolster progressive leadership across industries, and was appointed to the Massachusetts’ Asian American Commission by the Senate speaker where she served as the treasurer and chair of the Health and Human Services Subcommission for 3 years.
